Bio

Boris Novikov graduated from the Leningrad University in 1972 as a Dipl. Math. (dept. of algebra and number theory), received a PhD in Comp.Sci. from the same university in 1981, and Dr. Sci. degree in 1994.

He joined the university as an employee in 1972. Since Jan. 2013 he is a professor and chair, sub-department of Analytical Information Systems, St.-Petersburg university, Russia (actually the same university). He also occasionally works as a database expert for the industry.

During his career he combined academic activities with practical experience in the system programming, database application design, development, and tuning.

Currently Boris Novikov is a visiting professor at Aalto University School of Science, Finland.

Boris Novikov served as a General Chair of EDBT/ICDT 2009, PC Cahir of ADBIS conference in 2007, PC Chair for several workshops, a member of EDBT Association, ADBIS Steering Committee, and a program committee member for several international conferences, including VLDB, EDBT, ADBIS, and Baltic DB&IS, and workshops.

B. Novikov is a member of the ACM, SIGMOD, and Moscow chapter of ACM SIGMOD.
