On the Least Squares Method over Equally Spaced Points

Abstract

A problem of the best mean square polynomial approximation of
functions defined on a grid {0,1,...,n} is considered.
It is shown that Chebyshev's method for solving the problem
can be improved provided that Clenshaw sceme for computing the
values of the best approximating polynomial is used.
